Who is responsible

iGaming Finland is published by YIPI Oy, a company registered in Finland, which acts as the data controller for personal data processed through this site. Data protection enquiries, including requests to access, correct or erase your data, should be sent to editor@igamingfinland.com and will be answered from the same address.

What we collect and why

If you subscribe to the Finland iGaming Brief, we process the email address you give us, and the date and time of subscription. We use it to send the newsletter and nothing else. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by subscribing and can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every issue or by emailing us.

If you contact us by email, we process the message and your address in order to reply and, where relevant, to verify information for publication. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating an editorial publication and responding to correspondence.

We collect aggregate statistics about how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate region, referring site and device type. These are used to understand which coverage is useful. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the publication.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent or share subscriber lists. We do not pass your address to partners, advertisers or any other party for their own marketing. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not carry third-party advertising trackers. Sources who contact us confidentially are not identified in published material without their agreement.

Who processes data on our behalf

We use service providers to host the site, deliver email and produce analytics. They process data only on our instructions and under written agreements. Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, that transfer relies on the safeguards permitted under the GDPR. The providers in use are listed in the version of this notice published at launch.

How long we keep it

Subscriber addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, after which the address is removed from the active list and retained only as a suppression record so that we do not contact you again. Correspondence is kept for as long as it is relevant to an editorial record, and source material supporting a published story is retained so that we can substantiate what we published. Analytics data is aggregated and not linked to an identified individual.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to processing based on legitimate interest, request restriction of processing, and receive your data in a portable form. You may withdraw consent to the newsletter at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. Requests go to editor@igamingfinland.com and we respond within one month.

If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully you may lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman, who supervises data protection in Finland.

Cookies

The site uses cookies that are necessary for it to function, and analytics cookies that help us understand which coverage is read. Analytics cookies are set only where consent is required and given. You can clear or block cookies in your browser; the site remains readable without them.

Journalistic processing

Where we process personal data for journalistic purposes, such as naming an executive who has spoken publicly about the Finnish market, that processing relies on the exemptions the GDPR and Finnish law provide for journalism and freedom of expression. If you believe something we have published about you is inaccurate, our corrections process is set out on the corrections page and we will deal with it there.
