LeoVegas Group has applied for two Finnish gambling licences, Managing Director for the Nordics Fredrik Wastenson confirmed at NEXT Summit Valletta in late May 2026.
The filings came roughly two months after the National Police Board began accepting applications on 1 March. At the time of the statement the regulator had received somewhere in the region of 40 applications in total.
Not racing to day one
Wastenson indicated that the group did not view being operational on the first day of the licensed market as necessarily critical, and pointed to aspects of the Finnish framework that still needed clarification before operators could plan with confidence.
That is a notable position from a group of LeoVegas's size, and it suggests the first weeks after 1 July 2027 may see a staggered rather than simultaneous set of launches.
Context
LeoVegas has been owned by MGM Resorts International since 2022 and operates several brands across regulated European markets. It remains the only company to have publicly confirmed a Finnish application.
